OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Charlotte’s Place, we integrate the best practices out of many progressive educational and developmental traditions. Aspects of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Bank Street, Waldorf, and RIE, are all based on child-centered, individualized, play-based, developmentally appropriate opportunities for children to construct meaning from experience. Social and emotional needs of children are valued as highly as physical and intellectual needs.
We are always looking for a balance - enough structure to feel safe and predictable, enough freedom to be creative and empowering, opportunities to work in groups, but also the space to work alone, very open-ended activities, like finger paint, and ones that have a clear beginning, middle, and end, like a puzzle.
Joy and kindness are at the heart of everything we do, taking the time to celebrate the little moments and discoveries that make childhood magical.
